A place to shoot

What I have missed lately is a place outdoors to shoot. When we were growing up (and really not that long ago ….) we used to be able to go over to some of the best woods and riding trails in Cobb county, off Cooper Lake Rd.
There was miles of trails, woods, creeks, etc., to stomp around in. Everything from 4 wheel drive trails to fishing, shooting and hunting. Unfortunately the same thing that happens to most of them happened to it…too many folks moved in and complained. Then the cops got to the point to where they wouldn’t let you shoot anymore out there so it’s gotten restrictive, just like most places.
I hate an indoor range…to me it is like sex with a rubber . It’s ok, it fills the need but just isn’t natural ! Lol.

We need more places to shoot outside that isn’t all “over regulated“ so to speak ! I know they are few and far between.
Without private land I guess it’s just a pipe dream now.

That's exactly why I love living on unrestricted and unincorporated land. The neighbors, few and far between, can complain but there isn't much that they can do except yell at the clouds.

I know it's a jaunt and plenty of WMA's along the way but if you find yourself in the Toccoa area and feel the need to pop off a few rounds, let me know.

By the way, I'm the guy that bought the knife from Don to send to you and banned from ODT until the end of November. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks for the reply ……and the knife !! Lol
I just got back to this thread…these damned meds or whatever seem to boggle the mind some, make me sleep like never before ! Im forgetting stuff easily now too, which has been a worry.
I am sure it’s a side effect from whatever has been screwing with my brain from all these seizure incidents. That is what I think anyway, who knows ?!
Back to the shooting - thanks for the invite also ! Taccoa isn’t around the corner or nothing but ya never know - I may very well take you up on the invite sometimes ! Lol. I would love to come invade your property for a couple of hours and bust some caps ! Sounds like a blast ! Lol.
Anyway, thanks again …… I will correspond with you soon in one form or another, I am sure ! I would love to shake your hand one day in person, you seem like a good person to meet .

Years ago when my folks retired and moved to south GA, we used to go to see them and loved it down there.
We love to shoot and my dad always reloaded and taught us how. But we would go visit them and it was just a short 5 min ride to the lake in the cow pasture to shoot in the runoff pond. We used wood 2x4 blocks for targets so that there wasn’t any trash. Just wood chunks.
Unfortunately they have passed away years ago….it is hard to find a good place to shoot anymore. As I said before….Ranges indoors just don’t feel natural and I hate the confined space. I guess I am spoiled in that aspect.

Oh man !! That looks fun ! I love blasting stuff (safely of course) , especially when the need has been Used up completely. It is so much more fun than just tossing it into a landfill !! Lol.
It looks like we were probably separated at birth ! I love blowing stuff up , shooting, reloading, etc.,
I really miss riding the 4 wheel drive trails and just being a kid again ! It has gotten so restrictive in the metro ATL area lately.

Damn brother….. You know how to have fun , it looks like ! Lmao !
I bet that was a “blast” to do. I could only imagine the fun….lol.
Was there much concussion, any at all ? Did ya have to hide behind anything ? Just curious. What did you use to do the deed with ?
With it being a Stack On , I bet it didn’t take much. They are kind of thin from what I have seen.

We were about 75 yds back. And you're correct, didn't take much. Opened it with an API .50 BMG and then used some green tip 5.56 once the target was placed. Hardest part was aiming for the general spot because we put the canister in the safe.

Concussion. Yes. A lot of concussion. So much so I ended up going around to the few neighbors we have to let them know what it was. They are used to the shots, not used to explosions 🤣

Here's another one we tucked in the base of a dead tree. Watch it a couple times and you'll see all the leaves on the ground jump.
